News from 521: Wisconsin's Bisexual/Pansexual Advocacy Group

521 moves officially into outreach and activism! We're recruiting bisexuals, pansexuals and their allies for: a Bi/Pan Speakers Bureau, Youth Outreach efforts, Pride Event planning, and fabulous social events. We'll also be planning efforts to recruit people in other parts of Wisconsin - Milwaukee! Green Bay! La Crosse! Superior! Oshkosh! Eau Claire! and many more!

521 is a Wisconsin non-profit organization dedicated to creating a state-wide response to the issues facing non-monosexual individuals. We aim to provide a sense of community among members, educate organizations that serve non-monosexual individuals on how to best address our needs, and provide support to those who may be subject to erasure in both straight and LG communities.

When introducing Bi Women Newsletter, I am frequently asked whether there is a parallel publication for bisexual men. Sadly, there is not. To help remedy this, I have decided to put out a Special Men's Issue of Bi Women. This will be in Addition To the regular quarterly issues of Bi Women.

If you identify as a bisexual or in some other way as non-monosexual man/male-identified person, I hope you will consider submitting your work.Collapse )

IMPORTANT: PLEASE SIGNAL BOOST AND X-POST THIS CALL FOR WRITING

Click here to see how WikiHow recommends how to date a bisexual person. It's very "they're just like anyone else" in nature. Good to see!

I've been watching Japanese live action "superhero" shows (i.e. tokusatsu shows) lately, and I've gotten interested in the "Kamen Rider" series. Currently, I've seen a number of episodes of "Kamen Rider Kiva" and two of "Kamen Rider W." As a result, I started looking for pictures of Koji Seto (Wataru from ...Kiva) and Masaki Suda (Philip from ...W).

Okay, I could go on about their good looks, but that's better shown in photos. But what I think is interesting is how male stars from a action series will be dressed in some of their photos. I don't think you'd ever see an American male action star in the outfits Masaki Suda seems to favor (judging from his first photo book) - form fitting with bright colors. And he's thin, so it's not like he's dressing to show off muscles. (I sure think he looks good though.) It'd probably be assumed he's gay here. (Haven't found any real evidence he is. I can dream though.) Of course, the photos of him in the football outfit might confuse people wanting to make the simple assumption.

I haven't spent as much time looking for photos of Koji Seto, but you can find one of him via google in purple with a purple/pink shirt. There's a contrasting one in a football (or was it hockey?) jersy. But the one I don't think you'd ever see from a male American action series star is the one of him in a skirt (maid outfit, I think from another tv show he was in. At http://www.dramacrazy.net/atashinchi-no-danshi-images/47/Image/4092 ) But in Japan, it's okay. :-)

Media Advisory

Contact: Cliff4vets (at) aol (dot) com

Dear Fellow Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender & Heterosexual Veterans & Advocates:

On the morning of March 15, 1778, after having been court-martialed on charges of attempted sodomy, Lt. Gotthold Frederick Enslin, became the first known soldier in our Country's history to be “drummed out” of the Continental Army on grounds of homosexuality -- with orders of “Never to return!”

The Kiss: Don't Ask Don't Tell (DADT) REPEALED 18 December 2010Well, today, 232 years later, Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgender servicemembers and veterans have RETURNED, with the repeal of the US Military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy by an affirmative vote of the US Senate. Yes, today, Lt. Gotthold Frederick Enslin finally rests in peace, as do ALL other GLB&T veterans who gave their lives in service to our Country.

History will record that the sky did not fall down upon us, and the Earth did not quit spinning.Collapse )

The previous post and image have been removed. This is a community for the discussion and support of bisexual men's social, familial, and psychological matters, not a forum for posting nudity -- personal, tasteful, or otherwise. There are plenty of those places elsewhere on LJ and the interwebs.

Any questions can be messaged to me directly. Thank you.

The DL man is so afraid to admit to himself that he can’t live up to the narrow role of manhood that society has afforded him that he goes off and engages in unprotected and dangerous sex acts with other men because he can distance himself from the act.  It’s not really “him” doing those things, being unmanly, so he can turn off his moral compass and separate himself from his actions.  The DL man, in his heart, believes that his manhood is defined by how he receives sexual pleasure, in how many women he can conquer so he doesn’t feel guilt or remorse for telling women how much he despises homosexuals when, in fact, he, feels compelled to have sexual experiences that fall outside that reality without ever having to face up to his own desires or the motivations that drive him to them.

The opposite of the DL man is the AfroerotiK man.  The AfroerotiK man is a man who can acknowledge that wearing that role of super-macho, emotionless, manly man isn’t working out for him.  The AfroerotiK man, one who can acknowledge the truth that he finds arousal in the arms of another man for many reasons, not the least of which could be the concept of feeling loved, nurtured, protected, and even submissive, is healing and transformative and has no shame in that fact.  The AfroerotiK man is one who can redefine manhood to mean something more than paying bills and having a woman on his arm that other men desire.  The AfroerotiK man is one who acknowledges that honesty, commitment, integrity, compassion, empathy, courage, and being able to admit your fears, insecurities, and flaws is the TRUE measure of a man.  The AfroerotiK man realizes that a woman is more than a pretty symbol of how successful a man is, that she is a partner, a friend, an ally, and someone with whom he can build a solid future with.
